We attended the Second Annual Local Bounty conference on the weekend. The speakers were great and the food was great. It offered a great way to hear what our local community is doing both on the producer side and on the buyer side.
One thing that I took away from the conference is the idea that the local food movement is not a fad. The key note speaker Wade Sirois was very passionate about food in general but specifically using food you know from people you know. The idea of building relationships between buyer and producer and how that can develop into a greater community allowing people to connect with people again at the same time as connecting back to the land.
