Winter Temperatures

January 31st, 2009

35_below6_below

Our winter this year seems to be either at very cold or “very warm”.   These temperatures aren’t the extremes we had but are getting close (we did reach 40 below for a while).  If you ever get to experience 40 below take a warm cup of water and throw it up in the air (outside); watch and listen to what happens.

Currently we are working on planning the garden plots and a seed order.  Combine that with planning what we need for starting seeds, soil amendments, watering, washing, hardware, tools and buildings and there are plenty of things to keep you occupied throughout the winter.

Local Food Locations

I thought this map was interesting.

Where consumers in Saskatchewan can find locally-produced and/or organic food. Click Here for Map

(I had this map embedded in the post but found it was a little slow to load so have changed it to a link.)

Links Added

I’ve added a couple of extra link categories.

Random Links of Interest – are links related to sustainability, local, food, energy, Saskatchewan, organic, etc. Not directly farming links but issues that are somewhat related.

Completely Off Topic – links that really have nothing to do with growing fresh produce but are of interest and I think worth sharing.
