Tractor Power

You really have to like it when things work.  I went back out to the land to get the lights we left out (or at least put them back in the hot house).  My options were limited so as much as I didn’t want to I decided to try and start the tractor.  I had forgot to take the battery off in the spring and the tractor had been sitting wrapped up all winter.  I wanted to do some spring maintenance on it before firing it up but…

I arrived at the tractor, unwrapped it, put the key in and all the lights came on the glow plugs warmed up and the tractor fired up like it was the summer time.  I managed to hook up the plywood sled with all the lights on it and everything slowly made it back to the main road.  The snow was deep but that tractor pulled through most of it.  Sometimes I had to help it crawl along with the front end loader.

Getting the water tank.

December 6th, 2008

This is Dad and I picking up a 1200 gallon water tank for the land.  This was going to store the water lifted up from the ground.  We had hit water at this time but still hadn’t managed to get it out of the ground.  There wasn’t enough water reserve before the clay in order for the sandpoint well to work (the water was in the well was sucked up to quick and ran the pump dry).  The solar powered pump I had didn’t fit down the sandpoint pipe.

The forklift operator was a little jittery but he got it on there without hitting the truck.

Hauling the fence.

This may have been a little over kill but at least I know it will last.  I got three 300 feet long by 8 feet high rolls of game fence.  You could also buy the plastic deer fencing (much cheaper) but you also need good posts for that and anything over 10′ in length gets pricey.  My trade off was a solid fence and cheap (in price) fence posts.
